Two Poems

Good Morning, Nearly Ninth Graders,

Today you will type your 16 line poem about an early memory, and then write your 8 line poem or 50 word paragraph about your favorite food.  After that, read two poems, Cora’s and Alex’s, and comment on them.

Of you finish early, play some brain games from previous posts.

Poem and Rebuttal

Holly’s Pandas, pastel, charcoal and color pencil

Good Morning, Geniuses,

Today type in your rebuttal (200 words plus), and your poem.  Next, comment on Holly’s Pandas, above.  Also, make sure all of your make up work is finished.  Then you can play the brain games from previous posts.

Speech and Debate

Good Morning, Geniuses,

Friedrich Nietzsche said, “Those who cannot understand how to put their thoughts on ice should not enter into the heat of debate” (1).  Today you are typing your 300 words on your debate topic.  You may have to “put [your] thoughts on ice” and consider the opinions of others.  It is a very important life skill to try to see another person’s perspective.  Type your debate speech first, then comment on a classmate’s blog, such as Denielle’s Blog. or a blog from an earlier class.  If you finish, you may go to Brain Games.  Do not randomly surf the web.  Play the games, comment, or decorate your blog site.

Classification Essay

Good Morning, Geniuses

Today you should first write your Classification Essay blog.  Don’t forget to list the resources alphabetically by the author’s last name at the end of the writing.  This blog should be at least 5 paragraphs.  Go to someone’s blog from recent weeks that you didn’t comment on, and read it and comment.

If you finish everything else, go to this site and play the games to donate rice for needy people around the world. Go to http://freerice.com and choose vocabulary, grammar, or quotations.  You can adjust the level after you answer the first question.  Let me know how much rice you donated by commenting on this blog before you leave today!

Nature Poems and Rap

Hello Geniuses,

This morning you should type in your nature poems from last week, as well as your rap or song or poem that you wrote this week. After that, read some of the great poetry slam poems at Davis’s Blog, Denielle’s Blog, Sia’s Blog, Kaitlyn’s Blog, and Cora’s Blog.

Finish your poems and comment.  If you finish everything, go to these riddles: riddles for bored teens.
